Pair Of Porcelain

Made between 1900-1920 by Duxer Porzellanmanufaktur or Royal Dux in Dux, Bohemia (now Duchcov, Czech Republic), the art nouveau centerpieces depict beautiful maidens carrying lily pads and a water shell— both symbolic of the fluid art movement which aimed at recapitulating nature in design, by breaking the barriers of eclectic methodology. These figurines serve as an excellent symbol of one of the most crucial chapters in the world history of art.
[Marked ‘ROYAL DUX BOHEMIA’, comprising one center piece of a lady with lily pads and a second center piece of a seated figure holding a shell (2); height :14 in. (35.1 cm) and smaller]
