Alka Das is a renowned artist of Mithila painting tradition, born in Madhubani District she is daughter of Late Shri Ramanand Das and Smt. Godavri Devi. She has been painting since childhood and later on got trained at Mithila art Institute, Madhubani under renowned artist Shri Santosh Kumar Das. Apart from painting on traditional subjects she has worked extensively on Champaran Satyagrah movement lead by Mahatma Gandhi during freedom struggle. Her works have been exhibited in Upendra Maharthi Shilpa Anusandhan Sansthan Patna, California, Lalitkala Academi Patna, State Art Exhibition in Bihar and Lalit Kala Academi. She has also participated in art camp in Bhubhneshwar and artist residency program in Port Blair Andaman Nicobar Islands organized by Lalit Kala Academi New Delhi. Recently her art works have been acquired and exhibited by Syracuse University art museum in show titled “Mithila art in times of covid”. Alka Das lives and works from Patna Bihar.
